I am Mandy, I am the creator of Drift. The OG drifter if you will. I am a 30 something who lives on the road with my husband and four pets in a renovated camper. With a background in online retail and photography I have been looking for something a bit more artistically fulfilling that also was friendly to this lifestyle. When I saw a random video on instagram of a couple soldering jewelry from their van there was no looking back. I found every youtube video I could on how to make silver jewelry. The rest is history.
It has been two years since I first found jewelry making and I am so honored to present Drift. I am slowly drifting through different techniques with jewelry and other creative experiments.
I really feel like this is where I need to be, and this is what I need to be doing. So thank you for being here. ✨
How it's made
All things in my Lost collection are made with the Lost Wax Casting technique.
I carve something out of a hard wax with sharp tools. I send it to a small casting house in New Mexico, they cast the items for me into the metals I choose and send them back to me. Once I get these items back I turn them into the pieces I envisioned them to be. I solder them into rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. 💃🏻I oxidize them to show the imperfect details of my carvings, then polish them up, package them with care and send them to you!
All things made in my Found collection are casted from items I find on the road as my husband and I travel around. From shells, to leaves, to bones. After I find them I send them to the same casting house in New Mexico where they are made into silver or bronze and sent back to me to turn into jewelry.
One of a Kind items are made with a lot of different techniques. From hand fabrication, to beading, to candle making, to paintings. I have many interests and really enjoy sharing them with you as I learn them!
